Wish List Lookup
Birthday Bar will, by default, contact amazon.com, amazon.ca, amazon.co.uk, amazon.de, amazon.fr, and amazon.co.jp with your contact’s e-mail addresses in order to display for you any Wish Lists they have set up with those sites. The use of this information is subject to Amazon’s privacy policies. If the distribution of your friend’s e-mail address to amazon is unacceptable to you, turn off ‘Check for Wish Lists’ in Birthday Bar’s preferences.
Find Wish List Feature
If the ‘Find Wish List...’ item on an event listing’s pop-up menu is selected Birthday Bar will automatically transmit the name of your contact to your selected closest Amazon. The use of this information is subject to Amazon’s privacy policies. If the distribution of your friend’s name to Amazon is unacceptable to you you should refrain from selecting this menu item.
Links to Amazon properties
Following the links to any of the Amazon properties, such as the ‘Send Flowers...’ and ‘Send E-Card...’ menu items, subjects you to Amazon’s privacy policies. In addition, links to amazon.com, amazon.co.uk and amazon.ca are affiliate links—I earn a percentage of any purchase made if a Birthday Bar user utilizes these links to purchase an item from Amazon.
Checking for Updates
Birthday Bar will, by default, contact shoofile.com weekly to see if there is an available update to the software. This process sends your IP address to shoofile.com, just as opening the website in your web browser would. I use this information to calculate how many people are using Birthday Bar and to determine the approximate location of my users. No unique identifying information will be provided to third parties. I may, however, provide third parties with this information in aggregate, stripped of any identifying information, from time to time. If you are uncomfortable sending this information to shoofile.com, please turn off “Check for Updates” in Birthday Bar’s preferences.
